Dr Daphne Josselin, CPsychol
Counselling Psychologist in Kentish Town and Online
What will happen during the first session?
The first session will be an opportunity for us to meet, and to see whether and how we can work together. I will ask about your current difficulties, and try to determine how I may be of help. In turn, you will get a chance to ask questions about my practice and experience, and to decide whether I am the right therapist for you.
People are often anxious before the first session, especially if they have no prior experience of counselling or therapy. This is fully understandable. Yet one way to think of this first meeting is as a safe, confidential space, where you will share as much or as little as you want.
If by the end of the session we decide to work together, we will jointly define a focus for our work (or several areas of focus if need be), and agree a time for our sessions. I will also ask you to sign a copy of my Client Agreement, which sets out my terms and the way I work. You will find a copy of the agreement here.
Will our discussions remain confidential?
Our discussions are confidential and they will not be disclosed to any other person without your consent.
However there may be exceptions to this rule if I was required to disclose information by a court of law, or in order to protect you or another person from significant harm.
If you wish to know more about the way I use the personal information I collect in the course of my work, please consult my Privacy Notice here.
How often will we meet, and for how many sessions?
Most people attend a 50 minute session at the same time each week. However if you are unable to commit to the same time each week, let me know and we will discuss alternative arrangements. Please note that ad hoc sessions are subject to availability.
The number of sessions will depend on your needs and wishes. Some people feel a noticeable improvement within a few sessions, and you may decide that you have achieved your goals to a sufficient extent. Or you may choose to have more sessions to consolidate your gains, or work on other areas. I normally offer six sessions to begin with, with the possibility to extend our work as required.
What are your fees,
and when do you
see clients?
My fees are £90 per session. They can be paid in cash at the end of each session, or by bank transfer in the week following the session.
I am also a recognised provider for most major private health insurers. Please note that there is an additional £20 administrative surcharge when paying through private insurance (borne by the provider).
I have a few places at discounted rates for students and people on a low income. If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I see clients Tuesday to Friday, by appointment only.
